Thorn Women

The intention of this work is to raise awareness of oppressions and practices against women and highlight the work carried out by charities such as Amnesty International who educate, inform and promote human rights issues.

 

Thorn Women is motivated by the cruel practice of female genital mutilation. This barbaric practice not only mutilates girls it can be highly dangerous as many become HIV positive due to procedures being carried out with unsterile instruments. Many will suffer life long pain, as well as emotional and physical illness however many also die due to haemorrhage or infection because of this unnecessary custom.
